Mattress stitches

I recommend seaming pieces together from the right side. This way you can see the finished seam stitch by stitch. The stitches are called “mattress” (or “ladder”) stitches. The photo shows how the seaming is done on garter stitch, the mattress stitches can be used on any kind of knitting, stockinette stitch, rib etc.
